Appendix A

BIOS POST Messages

During the Power-On Self-Test (POST), the BIOS will check for problems. If a prob-

lem is found, the BIOS will activate an alarm or display a message. The following is

a list of such BIOS messages.

1 short beep System Normal

1 long beep+2 short beeps VGA Errors

1 long beep+9 short beeps ROM Errors

Repetitive pattern of beep+pause Memory errors

Overheat LED is On with beeping Overheat
